Buy or Pass?

Buy or Pass? Privacy Policy

Effective: November 6, 2026

Buy or Pass? is published by Jimmie Zinn ("I", "me"). This policy explains what the app collects, where it goes, and the choices you have. Short version: your business records stay on your device, and photos leave it only when you ask the app to identify an item.

What stays on your device

Everything you type into the app is stored only on your phone, tablet or computer: items, prices, hauls, inventory, sales, consignors, mileage, expenses and settings. I don't have a copy, there's no account, and I can't see it. If you delete the app, this data is deleted too, unless your device backs it up (for example to iCloud or Google), which your device's backup settings control.

Photo identification (optional)

The first time you use photo identification, the app asks for your permission and names the company that does the work. Only after you agree, and only when you tap Identify:

You can turn photo identification off at any time in Settings → Photo AI. With it off, no photos leave your device.

Information the server receives

To run photo identification and protect it from abuse, the server receives:

Subscriptions

Buy or Pass? Pro is sold through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handles your payment; I never see your card or billing details. The app uses RevenueCat to confirm whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase records from Apple or Google, not your name or email. See RevenueCat's privacy policy at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy.

Companies that help run the app

Only these companies receive information from the app, and only to provide the service described above:

AnthropicIdentifies items from photos (Claude AI)Photos and search words you send, when you tap Identify
CloudflareRuns the Buy or Pass? serverRequests to the server, including the install ID and IP address

Each of these companies is bound by its terms or privacy policy to protect this information at least as well as this policy describes. None of them may use it for advertising, and none receives your inventory, sales, consignment, mileage or expense records.

How long information is kept

What the app doesn't do

Files you export

When you export a CSV report or send a consignment statement, the app opens your device's share menu. Where it goes from there (email, Files, Messages and so on) is up to you.

Children

Buy or Pass? is a business tool for adults and isn't directed to children under 13. I don't knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, I'll update it here and change the effective date. Important changes will also be noted in the app.
